Changes in neural correlates of cognitive flexibility related to aging: meta-analysis results by Zhanna Chuikova

What happens to the brain mechanisms that support flexible behavior during aging? In a new meta-analysis led by Junior Research Fellow Zhanna Chuikova at the Cognitive Health and Intelligence Center, scientists thoroughly investigate age-related changes in neural mechanisms underlying the ability to adaptively switch between different tasks. Two key processes are of particular interest: switching based on rule retrieval from memory and switching based on discovering new rules in a changing environment.

We invite you to explore the study results, which significantly expand understanding of age-related transformations of cognitive functions and their neurobiological bases, published recently in the journal Behavioral and Brain Functions at this link.
